China (Yushu, Qinghai) Earthquake Imagery #geoeye #googlemaps

On Tuesday April 13th, a powerful 7.1 earthquake hit Qinghai province in China. The earthquake caused extensive damage and almost 1700+ lives were lost. Eyjafjallajokull Volcano, Iceland - a view from space

GeoEye has released a one meter resolution satellite image of Eyjafjallajokull Volcano, located in southern Iceland, taken from 423 miles up in space by IKONOS Satellite. This image was taken on March 31st, 2010. The volcano erupted on March 20th, 2010 after almost 200 years (wikipedia link).

Burj Khalifa, Dubai - a closeup view from way up above

GeoEye has released a high resolution (half-meter) satellite image of the tallest manmade structure in the world. This skyscraper (Burj Khalifa) is 828 meters (2,717 feet) tall.

GeoEye has released a image of White House taken from 423 miles up in space by GeoEye-1 Satellite. This image was taken on February 8th, 2010 after the recent record breaking snow that blanketed Washington D.C.
