LA Times: Mapping the road to the White House, Google-style

Los Angeles Times in their Business Section (07/01/2008) writes about Google's Election 08 Gallery in a article titled "Mapping the road to the White House Google-Style". The article displays a snapshot from my John McCain's Journey of Life Google Maps Mashup. Additionally the article states that
Maps can add a whole new layer of understanding to the race and the people running it. A pair of maps tracks each candidate's life across the planet, allowing you to see, for example, the location where McCain was held as a prisoner during the Vietnam War (pictured above) and the private prep school in Honolulu that Obama attended.
This is quite an honor for me. (Thanks to Keir Clarke at Google Maps Mania Blog for alerting me on the LA Times article).

Embarassing Night for Pundits and Pollsters

The Pundits and Pollsters had predicted a easy victory for Barack Obama in New Hampshire and almost written off Hillary Clinton. They were wrong "BIG TIME". Now Hillary Clinton is the "Comeback Kid", the name New Hampshire gave her husband 16 years ago. What happened? According to Dick Morris, Fox News Contributor
"She pretended to cry, the women felt sorry for her and they went for her". "She showed a capacity to take a punch that was extraordinary," Morris said. "I have never seen a comeback like this in my entire political life. … And I gotta say that this means, I think, that she’s going to win" the Democratic nomination.
Here's a Google Maps View of New Hampshire Primary Results by county (via).

Google Mapping US Presidential Candidates Event Trails

Google has created a "Elections 2008" gadget to help
people stay up-to-date on the latest campaign maps, news, videos and blog posts from the election trail. Add the gadget to your iGoogle homepage to follow the race. You can choose the candidates you want to follow, or keep tabs on them all.

Check out the maps tab of this gadget to view candidate event trails. Try searching for your own city or state to see which presidential hopeful will be campaigning near you!
