New York City Blackout on this day in 1977

New York City Blackout of 1977 lasted for almost 25 hours. It started at 8.37PM on July 13 and it was not until 10.39PM on July 14th that the entire New York City had the power restored. The Blackout was caused by couple of lightening strikes (more at wikipedia)

On March 27th, 1977, 2 Boeing 747 airliners (Pan AM flight 736 and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Flight 4805) collied at Los Rodeos Airport located at Tenerife, Canary Islands , Spain (Google Maps View). 1993 Mumbai Bombings

Today is the 14th anniversary of Mumbai Bombings. On March 12th, 1993 a series of 15 bomb explosions took place in Mumbai, India. The targets were Hotels, Banks, Office Buildings. About 257 people perished with over 1400 injured.

On March 12th 1930 Mahatma Gandhi along with 78 other men started his 23 day (240 miles) Salt March on foot from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi, Gujarat. This march was an act of protest against the Salt Tax imposed by Britain on Colonial, India.
